There are a few culinary institutions that manage to feel both nostalgic and completely current. Gott’s Roadside has long mastered that balance in Northern California. Now, for the first time, the Napa Valley icon has officially planted its flag in Los Angeles, opening March 6, 2026, at one of the city’s most storied destinations: The Original Farmers Market at 3rd and Fairfax.

For Angelenos who appreciate a great burger but expect more than the ordinary, this is not just another opening. It is the arrival of a wine country institution that has quietly shaped California’s modern roadside dining culture for more than two decades.

From Humble Stand to Cult Favorite

Founded in 1999 by brothers Joel Gott and Duncan Gott, Gott’s began in St. Helena, where the pair took over a modest roadside stand dating back to 1949 and transformed it into a destination. Over time, it evolved into a James Beard America’s Classic, known for its elevated take on American comfort food built around locally sourced, premium ingredients.

What started in the heart of Napa Valley now spans multiple Bay Area locations, from the Ferry Building in San Francisco to Oxbow Public Market in Napa. Los Angeles marks a milestone moment: the brand’s first Southern California outpost, with Santa Monica next on the horizon.

“We’ve dreamed of bringing Gott’s to Los Angeles for years,” says Clay Walker, President of Gott’s Roadside. “We couldn’t imagine a more meaningful location than the Original Farmers Market. It’s woven into LA’s food history, and we’re honored to become part of that story.”

A Natural Fit at 3rd & Fairfax

Since 1934, The Original Farmers Market has been a gathering place for generations. With more than 85 merchants and restaurants, it remains one of LA’s most beloved culinary landmarks. Gott’s arrival feels intentional, not opportunistic. Both brands share a deep respect for California’s agricultural roots and a commitment to quality.

Positioned adjacent to the Farmers Market West Patio, the new space embraces relaxed indoor outdoor dining. Designed by BCV Architecture & Interiors and built by Terra Nova Industries, the restaurant features Gott’s recognizable modern roadside aesthetic: bright interiors, communal seating, and an expansive patio that invites lingering lunches and easy family dinners.

Stan Savage Jr., President and CEO of The A.F. Gilmore Company, calls the partnership a perfect fit, citing a shared commitment to great food enjoyed in a setting that celebrates California’s heritage.

The Menu: Elevated Classics with Wine Country DNA

Gott’s may be known for burgers, but the menu is far more expansive.

The beef is sourced from Cream Co. Meats, chicken from Red Bird Farms, seafood from Pacific Fresh Fish Co., and bread from Larder Baking Co., alongside seasonal produce from California growers. The result is comfort food that tastes thoughtful.

Standouts include the classic Double Cheeseburger and imaginative options like the Green Chile and Kimchi Burgers. Chicken Tenders, served original style or tossed in Zab’s Hot Honey or Teriyaki, are already a crowd favorite. On opening night, the Teriyaki Chicken Tenders were a clear standout, deeply savory with just enough sweetness.

Seafood shines here. The Ahi Poke Crispy Tacos deliver sushi-grade Ahi with ginger wasabi mayo and Asian slaw, balancing freshness with crunch. The Asado Fish Tacos and Ahi Burger continue that coastal California influence.

Seasonal offerings such as the Lobster BLT layered with Maine lobster and heirloom tomatoes elevate the roadside concept into something distinctly Napa. The French Dip with house-braised beef, caramelized onions, Gruyère, and horseradish cream remains a perennial favorite.

Plant-based diners are equally well considered, with Impossible Burger and Chicken Nuggets, as well as a vibrant Falafel Salad with quinoa, lemon-tahini dressing, pickled beets, and hummus.

A Sweet LA Exclusive

Unique to this location is a dedicated soft serve window serving Strauss organic vanilla, chocolate, and swirl, complete with nostalgic toppings and dips. It is exactly the kind of detail that makes Gott’s feel both classic and playful. Expect this window to become a Farmers Market favorite, especially as the weather warms.

California in a Glass

True to its wine country roots, Gott’s beverage program leans California-centric. The

wine list features Napa Valley producers including Joel Gott Wines, Rombauer, Turley, Caymus, and Opus One. Draft beers rotate among respected local breweries such as Tarantula Hill, Beachwood, and Golden Road, alongside non alcoholic options from Athletic Brewing and Best Day Brewing.

Low ABV spritzes, house-made lemonades, and hand-spun organic shakes round out the offerings, making it as easy to stop in for a casual afternoon bite as it is to settle in for a relaxed dinner with friends.

A New Chapter for a California Classic

Open daily from 11 am to 9 pm for dine-in or takeout, Gott’s Roadside arrives in Los Angeles not as a trend, but as an institution expanding its story.

In a city that loves both legacy and reinvention, this feels like the rare opening that satisfies both. Napa Valley hospitality now has a permanent address at 3rd and Fairfax, and Angelenos are better for it.

Two of my favorite standout dishes for me were the Teriyaki Chicken Tenders and the Ahi Poke Crispy Tacos, both worth the visit alone. Make a point to stop by Gott’s Roadside and experience it for yourself.
