Emmys 2026: Hollywood’s Biggest Night Belongs to Television
Few evenings feel as electric in Los Angeles as Emmy night.
The 78th Emmy Awards brought television’s biggest names to the Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles for a night celebrating the performances, creators and productions that shaped the year. Tom Pelphrey was recognized as Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his performance in Task.
Comedy delivered some of the evening’s biggest moments.
Widow’s Bay was named Outstanding Comedy Series, while Matthew Rhys won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for the show. Rhys had an exceptional night, also winning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for The Beast in Me.
Jean Smart continued her extraordinary run with Hacks, winning Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. The victory marked another milestone in a career that has found an entirely new chapter of acclaim through the series.
Widow’s Bay also earned supporting acting victories for Stephen Root and Kate O’Flynn, further establishing the series as one of the evening’s major successes.
In the limited-series categories, DTF St. Louis was named Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, while the legendary Sally Field received the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Remarkably Bright Creatures.
Beyond scripted television, The Traitors won Outstanding Reality Competition Program, while The Late Show with Stephen Colbert took home Outstanding Variety Series.
An Emotional Honor for Michael J. Fox
Among the evening’s most meaningful moments was the recognition of Michael J. Fox, who received the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award.
The honor recognized Fox’s decades of advocacy and his work advancing Parkinson’s disease research. The moment went beyond television and celebrity, reminding everyone of the influence public figures can have when they use their platforms with purpose.
The room rose for Fox, creating one of those rare awards-show moments when competition temporarily disappears, and admiration takes its place.
