Los Angeles is a city of reinvention, where history and modernity collide to create experiences unlike anywhere else in the world. And when it comes to celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in true LA fashion, there’s no place more legendary than The Tam O’Shanter. Nestled in Atwater Village, this storied tavern has been serving up old-world charm, hearty meals, and an unrivaled festive spirit since 1922. As the oldest restaurant in Los Angeles still operated by its original family, The Tam has mastered the art of celebration, and its annual St. Paddy’s Day Bash is the gold at the end of the rainbow.

A Century of Good Cheer

Walking into The Tam O’Shanter is like stepping back in time—except with better cocktails. With its whimsical Storybook-style architecture, kilt-clad servers, and rich Scottish heritage, it’s no wonder that this beloved institution has stood the test of time. Founded by Lawrence Frank and Walter Van de Kamp (the minds behind Van de Kamp’s Holland Dutch Bakeries and the Lawry’s restaurant empire), The Tam was a favorite haunt of Walt Disney himself, who often dined at his favorite corner table, table 31.

Now, more than 100 years later, the tradition of welcoming guests like family continues. And there’s no bigger family affair than the legendary St. Patrick’s Day celebration, a fun day of revelry that transforms The Tam into LA’s liveliest Irish bash.

The Ultimate St. Paddy’s Day Bash

Mark your calendar for Monday, March 17, because this is one party you don’t want to miss. The festivities kick off at noon, spilling across the outdoor patio and into lively tents filled with food, drinks, and nonstop entertainment. General admission is a steal at just $10, but for those who want to party like a VIP, a limited number of premium tickets ($149 per person) offer an upgraded experience.

And of course, no St. Patrick’s Day is complete without a proper Irish toast. The bars will be pouring Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey and Guinness, with VIPs enjoying $2 drink specials. Classic holiday eats—turkey, corned beef, and brisket sandwiches on Kaiser rolls or rye—will be available, along with other bites for purchase.

For those craving a sit-down meal, The Tam’s main restaurant will serve lunch from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and

dinner from 5 to 9 p.m., featuring its legendary prime rib and Yorkshire pudding.

Why This is LA Living

So, what makes this St. Paddy’s Day celebration so uniquely LA? It’s the blend of history, character, and a touch of Hollywood magic that defines the city’s cultural heartbeat. The Tam O’Shanter isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a time capsule, a living piece of Los Angeles history where tradition and innovation thrive side by side.

For Angelenos, luxury isn’t just about high-end dining or flashy parties—it’s about unforgettable experiences, about knowing the best spots in town that offer something truly special. And there’s nothing quite like raising a pint where Walt Disney once did, surrounded by friends, music, and the kind of atmosphere that has made The Tam a local institution for over a century.

Whether you’re Irish by blood or just for the day, celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at The Tam O’Shanter is the ultimate way to experience LA Living—iconically.
