Redoing My Daughter’s Room: A Little Chaos, A Lot of Love, and All the Right Pieces

If you’ve ever tackled a child’s room makeover, you know it’s both thrilling and overwhelming. Recently, I decided to refresh my daughter’s space, cozy, playful, and timeless were the goals. Naturally, it involved mixing statement pieces, gentle colors, and practical additions that’ll grow with her.
It feels like just yesterday I was setting up a tiny pink nursery, carefully picking out pastel bedding, adorable stuffed animals, and butterfly decals for the walls. Fast forward ten years (how did that happen so fast?!), my sweet girl is officially in the double digits.
Turning ten has brought more than just a bigger birthday cake and a few extra candles; it’s come with big ideas and an even bigger opinion about her room. Gone are the days when I called the shots on wall colors and bedding prints. Now she wants a big girl room that feels more her and a little less bubblegum pink.
So here we are: transitioning her space from a soft pink princess haven to a room that fits who she’s becoming, creative, independent, and ready for the next chapter. She dreams of bolder colors, cozy nooks for reading, a desk for her crafts and homework, and decor that feels more “grown up” but still fun.
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel a little sentimental swapping out the pink walls and frilly curtains. But I also love watching her confidence shine as she selects new bedding, chooses wallpaper samples, and browses through furniture ideas like a mini interior designer.
Right now, we’re tackling it piece by piece, updating her furniture to something more timeless, swapping the all-pink palette for fresh shades she loves, and adding touches of her personality with wall art, rugs, and cozy bedding. Brands like Wild Palace, Evergrace Home, Ergonofis, Downright Bedding, Ruggable, and Pottery Barn Kids have been my go-tos for finding just the right pieces to make this new room feel special.
Her vision? A room that feels fun but also gives her space to grow where she can hang out with friends, get lost in a good book, and dream up the next adventure.
Mine? A room that makes her feel right at home, even as she gets older (and hopefully stays my little girl just a little bit longer).

Here’s what I’ve found so far:
Wild Palace — My go-to for whimsical statement furniture and decor. Their pieces give any corner an instant magical vibe.
Evergrace Home — Stylish and sturdy, perfectly built classic pieces that can stand up to daily kid life.
Ergonofis — Comfort meets smart design. Their ergonomic seating is both functional and stylish, making it ideal for homework or creative play.
Downright Bedding — Their duvets and pillows are soft, breathable, and have definitely made bedtime cozier and calmer (mostly!).
Ruggable Kids’ Washable Rug — Stain-resistant, machine-washable, and super cute. A lifesaver when spills happen (which they always do).
Pottery Barn Kids Bookcases — These sturdy, stylish shelves keep books and treasures organized and easily accessible.
Pottery Barn Kids Floating Shelves — Perfect for displaying her favorite things without cluttering up floor space.
Between swatches, sample carts, and my never-ending Pinterest boards, her room is slowly transforming. Watching her excitement makes every decision totally worth it.
Right now? It’s looking so good, but it still needs a few final touches (and maybe some twinkle lights) to feel just right. But hey, that’s the fun part!
